Great value. The knives are very sharp and easy to care for. The various colored handles make it so easy to reach for the tool you need quickly. Since the knives are stored in their own block on the counter, I find I reach for these tools rather than opening the untensil drawer and grabbing the tools I had previously used for years. I generally like a clear, functional counterspace, however, these knives use such a small amount of space and are used several times daily. The block is a neat and safe way to store them and keep them handy. The overall design actually adds a little something to the space. This was an easy fit. We didn't have to get used to the new tools.

We'd been using the same two paring knives for the last 10 years, so I picked up a Henckels 5-piece Utility Paring Knife set as a gift for my wife.
The quality is better than I would have expected for a plastic handle set out of China. The steel is strong and after 4 months of hand washing I have no spots, blemishes, or rust on the blades. There's enough variety in the set to meet most needs and you'll find yourself preferring these over your traditional knife set.
This is one of those items you don't know you need until after you purchase it. If my house burned down tomorrow I'd probably replace my Henckels before the TV. For everyday use you can't beat them. |
I always reach for these

I can't say enough about these knifes. The color coded handles really help to grap the correct knike for the job. They are really sharp and keep their edge. I've had mine for about three years and I use these everyday. My husband always wants to know why I reach for these instead of my more expensive name brand set, but I really like these better. I wish they made a set of larger knifes in the same design ( color coded handles ), I'd be first in line to buy them. Fantastic value for the price.
best knives for the price

These knives are the best I've ever bought, they are color coded, each with a different knife, a great little block for them, and boy are they sharp, and they stay that way
Love 'em!

Very pleased. Small set, perfect for my small kitchen. Knives are well made, VERY sharp, and visually pleasing. I also love that they came with the block. It's an odd shape, but looks really cool. Quick shipping as always.
Great Value.....

I had a small stainless steel paring knife that had been my multi-purpose knife for 30 years. I really liked it because it would cut pratically any fruit or vegetable but not my fingers! When I returned from a trip, I could no longer locate the knife.
After spending more time at Amazon.com than I'd like to admit reading about various knives, I decided on this set since it not only had a paring knife but other sizes as well. As it turned out it was a good decision as I use all the knives except the serrated one which I probably should use but I've become so accumstomed to reaching for a bread or steak knife that I still do that. I'm working on that little problem though!!
Meanwhile, I really like this set. The wood block is heavy and doesn't tip and the colored handles helps me remember which knife is which. I still miss my 30 year old wonder but since I had to replace it, then I'm happy this set took its place. |
These are a Must Have!

Got these knives about 6 weeks ago and don't know how I sliced and chopped before! The color-coded handles make it easy to reach for just the right tool and easy to get in their wood block. The blades are a little thin, but very sharp. Excellent knives for the price!

This is the second set of Henckels knives i have purchased...the first being about 15 years ago. the first set has been used almost daily and was a steal at about 10 dollars. I purchased the second set because of the great price and because of the holder that comes with the set...it sets on my counter next to the 500 dollar set Cutco knives in their holder... i use the green paring knife the most and the bread/sandwich knife next...I gave a set of four knives to my brother in law and he uses them almost as much as i do. I recommend them to anyone that need good quality knives at a cheap price.
Great knives.

Be sure when ordering these knives to get the ones made in Germany, a big difference over the ones made in China. The German knives do not come with the handy wooden knife holder. I wish it was sold as a single item!
Great knives! The most used item in my kitchen!!!!

I read the reviews of this knife set and then purchased them. Yes they are great! I don't think that another product in my kitchen gets more use! One of the reviews said that if there was a fire, he would save THIS set. I thought that was a little nutty...until I used them. Been using them for over a year at least. The convenience is just amazing. I think I may get another because all 4 are used every single day.
Great knives!!

This a great set of small knives!! Practical, durable, and they hold an edge well!! We use at least one of these knives every day. Great value, and I'll bet they'll last a lifetime. I would have paid twice as much as I did.

I find myself using these more than I thought. As one reviewer said, the color coding is nice when you want to grab a knife quickly. They are quite sharp too. No complaints about this set, and for the price I paid (during the Friday sale), it was a good investment.

I just got these as a gift and I really like them-especially the red handled bread knife-like butter! You have to be ready for the funky look on your counter. We got their regular knife block set with steak knives which have only been ok since we are now down to 2 out of the 5 steak knives due to tips breaking off in the dishwasher! I am hoping that these will be better. So far - good for the money!

These knives are small and easy to use. Plus, they are sharp no smashed tomatoes!!!! The handy holder keeps them close at hand and not loose in the drawer to cut your fingers when you are rummaging for "whatever".
Super nice, makes me happy!

It's great when something very simple in your life is just very high quality. The blades are great (not too thin and flexible like one poster wrote), and the holder keeps them right where I want with a tiny footprint. Two minor quibbles: the rainbow plastic handles detract from the sense of extreme quality, even though I have no complaint about their function at all. Also, the smallest and largest knife are specialty blades which aren't as useful to me as two more straight blades would have been (the red is a cerrated utility knife, the blue "peeler" has a somewhat hooked point). I mostly use these for chopping up many snacks a day into toddler-friendly bites, so the more sharp and handy simple knives the better.

I purchased this item because of the reviews. I should have returned it, but loved the wooden holder and put my own knives in it. The knives are dangerous... thin, bend, extremely sharp. I wish the knives where safe since the color coding was a great advantage.
